If sea level was accounted for, the tallest mountain is not Mt. Everest (8848 meters high/29028 feet) - it is Mauna Kea under the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii (9449 meters high/31000 feet), but 2/3 of it is not visible (underwater).
Also - underneath the Atlantic Ocean, the longest mountain range is the Mid-Atlantic Range - creating the “C” between S. America and Africa” [it is about 2 million years old]
every time i learn something new, i feel like am uncovering a fresh piece of the complexity that has been set forth by our ancestors. however - the more i learn about the historical context of which our continents have been created, the more i am scared of living - the ongoing imbalance of power structures and the poverty that results.
the sciences- however, disregards these political aspirations - making this planet a little more magical to live in - feels like we’ve been placed here with certain mysterious elements that scientists have gradually discovered over the centuries -combined to produce what is today electricity, internet and digital connectivity of which all enjoy with copious entitlement without any notion of where it derived from.
